Substance Use Disorders

State licensed as a comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatment Provider, Southwest Behavioral Health Center is the only provider in southwest Utah that can offer such a wide array of services to both youth and adults. Our staff members are trained to evaluate individual needs and to help determine the intensity of treatment that best meets the needs of the person. Family participation is encouraged at all levels of care. Substance abuse affects everyone who has contact with the substance abuser. All of our substance abuse treatment services are Medicaid approved.

Substance Abuse Treatment Services Offered
Outpatient treatment services are available to adult women, particularly those who are substance abusing. Southwest Behavioral Health Center's specialized staff coordinates resources and services with other agencies for the women in treatment.

Special consideration is given to women with dependent children or who are pregnant. Individual needs of women seeking treatment may consist of childcare assistance, transportation assistance, and long-term foster care. Services may include counseling, residential treatment, education programs, parenting, and life-skill developmental groups.

Horizon House East & Horizon House West
Horizon House offers gender specific residential treatment, available at two separate locations. Both locations are licensed 45+ day substance abuse treatment facilities. The treatment offered combines group and individual therapy, education classes, anger management, communication skill building and relapse prevention. The residential portion of treatment (Phase I) is followed up by Phases II and III which are outpatient services and are provided in each of the five Southwest Counties.

Desert Haven
Desert Haven is a residential support facility for women in the five county area. The facility is licensed for up to 7-10 adult women and up to 6-9 children (ages 8 & under) belonging to the women. The women in the program attend substance abuse day treatment at the main St. George Office Complex, while day care services are provided to their children. The treatment offered combines group and individual therapy, education classes, anger management, communication skill building, parenting skills, life skills education, and relapse prevention.
